Create Icy Looking Text using Gimp
Type Text.
Right click on Text Layer - Alpha to Selection.
Filter - Render - Clouds - Plasma.
Color - Desaturate - Desaturate again.
Right click on Text layer - new layer.
Move text layer up. Image-Merge down.
Layer - transform-rotate 90 degrees clockwise.
Filter - distort - wind (Direction-right) -OK
Layer - transform-rotate 90 degrees back to original position.
Color - color balance (make color adjustment) - OK.

Create Layer Text using Gimp
Write Text.
Use perspective Tool to reposition text.Right click Text Layer, select Alpha to Selection. Fill color.
Duplicate text, move below. Fill text with black color.
Duplicate black color text layer a few times.
Move each of these black text below.
Add blur-Gaussian blur (30) to the bottom layer.

Cut difficult image using Gimp.
Open image. Add alpha channel.
Duplicate image.
Select Color - Component-Decompose (RGB, Decompose into layers)
Select whichever appears more white and more black.
(Use color-curves to adjust more black and more white.)
Selected object must be WHITE color, if not do color INVERT.
Edit copy.
Right click Original Layer - Add Layer Mask. (White)
Click on White copy of layer mask, Edit Paste.
(Now you can reduce the opacity to check against original image, if selected object portion is missing, just use erase tool to adjust.
Click Anchor.
Flatten image.

Create Neon Text effect using Gimp
Click Text Tool - Type Text.
Right click Text Layer, select Text to Selection.Click Filter - Select Alpha To Logo - Neon. (click add shadow if require)
The image will be reduced.
Merge visible text layers.
Edit Copy the text.
Open new and set layout size.
Select background picture.
Edit Paste

Create Transparent Glass Effect Text using Gimp
Type TEXT (White)Click Align Tool, set relative to Image.
Duplicate Text layer.
Double click Text layer (TOP), click color box , select black. Close text box.
Right click on Text Layer-select Layer to Image Size.
Filter - blur -gaussian blur (30).
Click arrow key down to move layer down.
On Layers MODE: change to Grain Merge. (Layer mode is above opacity on layers box)
Click Move Tool (check Move the Active layer)and move black shadow down a little.
Now click on top layer (White), change Layer Mode to Soft Light.

Create Glowing Text using Gimp
Type Glowing Text (White)
Right click Text layer-select Layer to Image size.Right click Text Layer, Select Alpha to Selection, next Click Select-Grow (3).
Duplicate layer. Fill Text Color Purple. Select none. (Name this layer as GLOW)
and move below Text Layer.Filter Blur-Gaussian Blur (45)
Duplicate Layer, Set Gaussian Blur to 30.Duplicate layer and set Gaussian Blur to 15. Next Set Layers mode to Dodge.
Duplicate Layer (GLOW) and move it to the top of all layers, set layermode to Dodge.

Distort Text using Curve Bend -Gimp.
Type TEXT.
Right click Text layer - select Alpha to Selection.
Fill TEXT with color.
Select none.
Click Filter - Distort - Curve Bend . Adjust the curve shape.
Click Filter - Light and Shadow - Xach-Effects to drop shadow.
Flatten Image.

Changing Background using Select by Color Tool-Gimp
1. Open new image.
2. Right click image layer - select Alpha Channel.
3. Click Select by Color Tool.
4. Check Antialiasing, Select transparent areas.
NB: Higher Threshold setting will result in more similar colors to the one you clicked on will be selected.5. Now pick the color you wish to delete.
6. Edit clear. (For areas not selected, you can repeat this process or use Fuzzy Tool to select.
7. Now you can add new background by adding new layer.
Changing Background color using Color to Alpha - Gimp
1. Select image.
2. Color - Color to Alpha (Convert specified color to transparent)
3. Click on the From color box to bring up next screen.
Click on color picker tool on the right side of HTML notation box and drag to pick the background color of the picture. Then click OK.
4. Add new layer (white) and fill new background color.

Create Reflective Text using Gimp.
Open new background
Type TEXT.Fill require text color or pattern.
Duplicate TEXT Layer.
Move the new layer below.
Use Flip Tool to reverse vertically.
On reversed Text Layer, Add Layer Mask (White) , Select Text Layer. (This additional step will give better reflective effect though is not necessary)
Select Fuzzy Tool, click on transparent portion of TEXT, next Select Invert (Now only Text is selected)
Change Foreground to White.
Select Gradient Tool - Foreground to Transparency. Adjust desired opacity.
Move from bottom upward to fade the bottom portion of TEXT.
Then shade back ground into 2 colors (Optional).

Outline Text using Gimp
Type Text.Right click Text Layer. Select Alpha to selection.
Fill Text with color.
Duplicate layer.
On original Text Layer, click Select-Grow (select 10).
Fill Text with Black color.
Flatten Image.
Desaturate certain portion of color using Gimp
Method 1
1. Open image.
2. Duplicate layer.
3. Select Duplicated layer. Click Color-Desaturate-Average-OK.
4. Right click on BW layer, add Alpha Channel.
5. Use various tools to select portion which you want to keep the color.
6. Click Eraser tool to erase the selected portion.
7. Flatten image.
Method 2 (Recommanded)
1. Open image.
2. Duplicate layer.
3. Select duplicated layer. Click Color-Desaturate-Average-OK.
4. Right click on BW layer, add Alpha Channel.
5. Right click on BW layer, add Layer Mask.
6. Select WHITE layer of layer mask.
7. Make sure Black foreground color is selected.
Select Paint brush begin to paint the area you want to be in color.
8. Flatten Image.
NB: If you overdo the boundary and can't undo, switch to white paint and paint opacity back over your mistake to repair the mask.

Set Vignette Effects using Quick Mask-Gimp.
1. Select image
2. Do rectangle select.3. Click on Quick Mask, small square button on the left bottom.
(Now outer portion of the selection turns red)
4. Click Filter-distort-wave.
5. Click on Quick Mask button again.
6. Click select invert.
7. Click delete.

Perspective 3D Text using Gimp
Click Text Tool and type text. Choose font.
Right click on Text Layer - Text to Selection.
Select Text Layer,
Click Gradient Tool and Apply.
Click Filter - Light and shadow - Supernova
Click Filter - Light and shadow - Xach Effect (3D)
Click Filter - Light and shadow - Perspective (Perspective Back shadow effect)
Select None .
Flatten Image.

Make text follows path using Gimp
Open new.
1. Click on Path Tool. Create and edit path.
2. Click on Text Tool. Type some text.
3. Click Layer - Text along path.
4. Right click on Text layer - Delete.
(If Text layer is not visible, click window-Dockable Dialogs - Layer to display text layer.)
5. Click Window - Dockable Dialogs - Path (or click Path Dialogs tool)
6. Right click on text path layer - Path to selection.
7. Select Bucket fill color - Fill text with color. (or do gradient for colorful text).
8 Select none.
Put Image Inside Text using Gimp.
1. Open New. Look for Background photo.
2. Type text and adjust font.
3. Right click Text Layer - select alpha to selction.
4. Delete "Black' text selection.
5. Select Background Layer.
6 Edit copy.
7. File open, look for Text Background.
8. Edit Paste.
9. Adjust, resize, reposition TEXT, Anchor floating layer.
10. Do Ellipse select. Edit Copy visible.
11. Go back to original background layer, delete text layer, select none.
12. Edit paste. Anchor image.

Fill Text with Pattern using Gimp.
2. Select Text Tool , type text and adjust font.
3. Right click on Text Layer, - Text to selection.
4. Select the pattern and drag it to text layer.
5. On Text Layer - select none
6. Fill it with shadow (Filter - Light and Shadow - Drop shadow).
7. Image flatten.
